5 Employment Videos That Do it Right

Employment videos give organizations the ability to showcase company culture by sharing their unique story in a way that words cannot achieve. If done successfully, a great employment video should give job seekers genuine insight into what it's like to work for your company. Their purpose is to resonate with the right job candidates so that they are more likely to apply, while inadvertently helping the wrong ones self-select out. To help inspire you, we’ve put together some of our favorite employment videos. Each one is unique to its branding, tells a distinct story, and is incredibly compelling. Heck, you may even find yourself wanting to apply!

Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA)

CTCA showcases their company culture through a series of videos highlighting different roles within the organization. This employment video features a physical therapist, Tammy, and her role in treating patients. We love this video because it shares CTCA’s story through the words of a real employee. Job seekers learn that CTCA's ideal candidates have compassion and understand the value of human connection.

Facebook

Facebook skips the frills of showcasing its offices or perks, and instead focuses on the lack of hierarchy that defines what it’s like to work at Facebook. Great ideas are expected from the leaders of Facebook, but they also come from individual contributors. Candidates learn that potential employees must have the passion to be bold, extremely imaginative and a keen critical thinker. Facebook also successfully connects with video viewers on an emotional level. By promising potential employees that they will have the opportunity to leave a legacy, Facebook gives the right candidates a sense of urgency to join. “For the first time ever in history, we can build all these new kinds of experiences. The difference between where we are and what’s there is a handful of people with a sense of determination and a really powerful imagination.”

Rio Tinto

Rio Tinto took a unique approach by using a sole employee to share its company culture. The company uses its two minutes wisely, communicating their employment brand without stuffing in too many facts. Candidates learn that Rio Tinto strives for production and operational excellence, values diversity in the workplace, and holds their employees accountable for their results. The video shows a very different side of the mining industry and how employees’ actions in the operations center have a huge impact on the organization’s success.

Blitz Agency

This video from Blitz Agency is the ideal length. At just under a minute, it still manages to demonstrate almost every employment aspect of Blitz Agency. Candidates learn about the company's dynamic list of services, the diverse group of personalities that make up the agency, the team's passion to help clients get in front of consumers, and the awesome office location. They pretty much cover it all in such a short amount of time. To do this, Blitz relies on speedier cuts and full screen graphics. We believe this communicates the fast pace that Blitz employees must to be able to maintain. Otherwise, you’re probably not a good fit for Blitz.

Jaguar Land Rover

JLR does a great job captivating its candidate audience by creating a compelling, high-energy employment video. The powerful music is a great tool for grabbing car lovers’ attention, as well as spiking their adrenaline! Short sound bites of real employees sharing their favorite career moments help inspire impassioned candidates to learn more. Plus, the video’s ending — “What will your moment be?”— is a strong call to action that engages candidates to apply.
