Julian Gude of Exceler8ion has taken me to task for my statements on Twitter in a very major way. And, of course, a response was required. I, myself, left a comment as did "the English guy", Ami G.
Both remarks were typical. Ami tends to think in terms of historical epochs based on technology. (Good thing he didn't emigrate in the nineteen fifties). And, I saw Twitter as promoting a tinyurl form of haiku. Indeed, the next great American poem might look like this.

Crackunit sees Twitter as a new form of Phatic expression which has little function beyond acknowledgement. And, Disambiguity sees it as a technology for “ambient intimacy”: "It’s not so much about meaning, it’s just about being in touch." (Hat Tips: Cheesedog and ASI).
Ironically, some people see Twitter as a means of filtering and thereby limiting contact whereas I see it as the step before some kind of implant.
-- "I used my implant to tell MILLIE what we wanted and she took care of it," Art said...
-- "Very useful gadget, but you can communicate with a computer about as well with a good briefcase console."
