Back in 2002, I bought a domain name Recruiting.com and my wife was furious because of what I paid. She knew I had a soft spot for domain names and I did my best to explain to her it was a good investment. I really believed that it was.
I did nothing with the domain name for a few years (most of the domain names I own have nothing going on with them) because I had no idea what to do with it. The idea that I owned it was exciting enough for me.
I then started a blog called Recruiting101.com after finding out about blogs from John Sumser. At that point there were not too many recruiting blogs out there but it was clear to me that this was a long-term thing and personally, it was a very good outlet for me.
After blogging for a while on Recruiting101.com, I decided to close it down and start writing on Recruiting.com because I figured that if I was going to make the kind of commitment to blogging I was making, I should invest my time on the domain name Recruiting.com
So now Recruiting.com is much more than a domain name. It’s a Recruiting Blog with multiple writers and usually over 1400 visits a day from mostly people who are interested in what is going on in the WWR (World Wide Recruitosphere) I am laughing right now at how funny that sounds.
There are a number of amazing people who have seriously contributed to Recruiting.com in terms of content, personality and lots of great ideas. There is no shortage of ideas in this industry. It has been an amazing pleasure to meet so many people through Recruiting.com, both online and off. I feel that a real community is being built and that is exciting.
Jobster has always been a big supporter of the Recruiting Blogosphere and Jason Goldberg who is Jobster’s CEO has not only been an important blog friend of mine but also a valued confidant of Recruiting.com. I gave Jason Goldberg a call to talk about Recruiting.com opportunities and before too long, we realized that it would be great to join forces.
So, I’m thrilled to announce that Recruiting.com has agreed to be acquired by Jobster. There are many reasons why this makes sense. Truth is, I couldn’t think of one good reason it didn’t. With Jobster behind me, there will be more resources for me to draw on now in order to develop more content, throw bigger parties, send more people on trips and most importantly, bring more readers in so I can send them out to all of the other great Recruiting blogs out there.
What is going to change about Recruiting.com now that Jobster owns it? For the foreseeable future, not a whole lot. We’ll incorporate some Jobster content from time to time (as well as other great content from other sources), and sure, we’ll occasionally link to some Jobster features, but we’ll also pledge to keep recruiting.com an unbiased source of recruiting dialogue and debate.
I am still going to run Recruiting.com and I will continue to deliver the thing that Recruiting.com delivers which is good conversation about the Recruiting Industry. Anthony is not going anywhere, Jim is not going anywhere and my (our) old good friend The Canadian Headhunter will not go away either.
So, expect a lot of the same plus some exciting new things. Jobster and Recruiting.com are coming together and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Thanks
